California man drowns in southwestern Mexico
ACAPULCO, Mexico — Mexican authorities say they have recovered the body of an American tourist who drowned near a Pacific resort town.
The Guerrero state Civil Protection agency says a fisherman found Juan Manuel Aguilera’s body at sea near Zihuatanejo.
State Public Safety official Pedro Salas identifies Aguilera as a naturalized U.S. citizen who lived in Los Angeles. Salas says Aguilera was born in Mexico City and had returned to his homeland for the holidays.
Aguilera, 44, disappeared Wednesday while swimming at Troncones beach. His body was found Thursday.
