AirTran Airways adding winter routes

ORLANDO, Fla. — AirTran Airways says it will start nonstop service between Tampa and Key West in Florida and add other warm-weather flights this winter.

The Tampa-Key West flights are scheduled to start March 10.

The airline said Wednesday it will operate additional flights to Tampa, Orlando, Phoenix and San Juan, Puerto Rico, beginning this winter.

Parent AirTran Holdings Inc. announced Monday it has agreed to be acquired by Southwest Airlines Co. for $1.4 billion in cash and stock.

Shares of the parent company rose a penny to $7.34 in midday trading Wednesday.
