Michelangelo drawings on display in Vienna
VIENNA, Austria — An exhibition of drawings by Michelangelo, ranging from early sketches to drafts masterpieces such as The Last Judgment fresco in the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel, opens this week in Vienna.
Klaus Albrecht Schroeder, director of Vienna’s Albertina Museum, where the exhibition opens to the public Friday, describes the show as the most comprehensive display of the Renaissance master’s work in 20 years.
Schroeder said Wednesday the aim of the exhibit was to allow visitors to “to get a full picture of Michelangelo’s work.” It includes drawings on loan from the Louvre in Paris, the Metropolitan Museum in New York and the British Museum in London.
The exhibition runs through Jan. 9th.
