British Airways’ OpenSkies to fly D.C. to Paris

NEW YORK — OpenSkies, British Airways’ all-business class airline, said Tuesday it is launching a new route between Washington D.C. and Paris.

The airline currently has a single route from Newark Liberty International Airport to Paris Orly with 17 flights per week. It suspended its route between New York and Amsterdam this summer as the recession pounded demand for air travel. Demand for more expensive business-class seats has been hit especially hard.

The new route will transfer passengers between Washington Dulles and Paris Orly beginning May 3. Flights will run 5 times per week.

OpenSkies operates B757-200 aircraft with space for 72 passengers in a mix of seats and beds. That aircraft can carry about 180 passengers in a standard seating configuration.
