Chicago (GaeaTimes.com) - On the last Sunday of June of every year, one of the well known parade shows is organized in Chicago. It is known as pride parade and this year it is for the 41st time. The parade was scheduled at noon. Various colors of social, cultural, athletic and political events have enriched the quality and the essence of this parade. It started from the Halsted & Belmont corner and proceeded towards the north, to the Broadway then south on Broadway to Diversey, then east on Diversey to Cannon Drive, in Lincoln Park.

The main participants of this parade are from the gay community. They walk in the pride parade to speak for equal rights, acceptance and mainstream visibility. Around 250 entries were registered this time. Floats, decorated vehicles, performance groups, a marching band and walking contingent were present in the parade. This year the grand master of the parade was singer or songwriter of the country Chely Wright. Different entries symbolized different things such as community organizations, businesses, governmental officials and individual community members. The arrangement was very fine. It was expected that a huge numbers of participants would be present. To avoid collision, barricades were made and it was decided that the viewers would be behind the barricades and the parade would smoothly run in the road. All traffics were closed at the parade route around 11 am and there was no position for car parking. There were two additional features in this parade. First one is the portable rest room. Those were placed at different locations by different organizations and there was additional place for the physically challenged persons in the parade. Since 1969 it is successfully running on.
