Rural Nevada communities receive tourism grants
CARSON CITY, Nev. — The Nevada Commission on Tourism has awarded 68 grants totaling more than $365,000 to help rural communities lure visitors.
The grants are awarded twice a year to public agencies, such as visitor authorities or chambers of commerce. Grants much be matched in amount, either through local funds or in-kind services.
The Fallon Convention and Tourism Authority received $8,000 to promote Tractors & Truffles. The event features locally grown food, agriculture tourism and rural arts and culture.
Another $10,000 was awarded to the Virginia City Convention and Visitors Authority for a “Wild West” media tour that will include Elko and Ely.
