NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- DMRC is gearing up for meeting the increasing rush of commuters that is likely to happen at the upcoming Commonwealth Games. The experience of travel in packed trains during rush hours is soon going to become a thing of the past for the residents of the capital. It has been reported that the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is going to incorporate a dozen new trains in its routes across the capital. The new trains will be pressed into service within two months as DMRC officials have confirmed. After that the trains will run at an interval of less than three minutes which will greatly reduce the congestion during peak hours.
DMRC hopes that with the new trains in its fleet it will be able to accommodate 200000 additional commuters on Line 4 and Line 3. The new trains have started arriving already which is good news for the commuters. 4 New trains are now undergoing trials at the Yamuna Bank depot of DMRC and after the tests are conducted successfully they will be pressed into commercial service. The entity wants to make the journey a pleasant experience for the commuters.
DMRC has also some other plans up its sleeves to offer more facilities to the commuters. It is on a drive to covert the existing 4 coach trains to 6 coach ones. Ever since its commencement of operation DMRC is expanding its routes across the capital and the link to Gurgaon has added to its number of commuters. It recently placed orders for more coaches to augment its capacity of carrying more passengers.
