MANGALORE, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The eco-tourism wing of Karnataka Tourism Department named Jungle Lodges and Resorts have plans to set up 7 additional resorts in Karnataka, as was confirmed by G. Janardhana Reddy the tourism minister of the state. The new resorts would be built on the coming two years. Around 30 crore INR would be invested to develop them as it has been reported. The new office of the eco-tourism wing was inaugurated by the minister on Thursday where he talked with the media.

While the state has got 24 crore INR from the center for this purpose it will have to bear the rest of the cost. A Malayasia based entity has shown interest to invest in an Acqua Marine Park in the state. The entity has in fact proposed to set up a huge integrated Tourism Project in Mangalore and its adjacent areas at a cost of 4500 crore. It will pave the way for the development of tourism in the state. It will be under a PPP model. The Karnataka tourism department has asked the firm to present the detail.

In fact a lot of tourism projects in Karnataka will be built under the Public-Private-Partnership model. The projects include convention centres, hospitality districts, tourism complexes and urban entertainment centres. Needless to say all these tourism development projects will result in more employment opportunities for the young population in the state. The government has also woken up to the need of wellness tourism in Karnataka. The projects will take some year to complete and after that the revenue from tourism will shot up substantially.
