Ryanair to cancel Prague flights in fee dispute

PRAGUE — Prague’s Ruzyne International Airport is declining to lower airport fees for Ryanair, prompting Europe’s biggest budget carrier to pull out.

Ryanair had complained that fees in Prague were too high. Last month, it offered to open a base in the Czech capital with six planes that would fly to 33 international destinations in exchange for lower airport fees.

Prague airport said in a statement Tuesday that it regretted Ryanair’s withdrawal but had no plans to change its pricing policies.

Ryanair said Tuesday it will cancel all flights to and from Prague, including to Stockholm; Dublin; Birmingham, England; and Hahn near Frankfurt in Germany by October because the airport is too expensive to use.
